Parents Forum Social Event

Following many requests from parents for social events we have managed to organise an event at the Brand New Soft Play and Multi-Sensory area within the newly refurbished Dolphin Centre.

The event will take place on Thursday 14th December between 4.00 - 6.00pm.

Members of the forum will have sole use of the facility which has an ‘Under the Sea’ theme and is open to the whole family so please feel free to bring along any brothers or sisters. During the event staff from the Dolphin Centre will seek your views on the new facility.

Also if you know of any other parents with a disabled child who you think may like to come along to this event then please feel free to pass on this information to them and ask them to contact Chris.

Live Darlington Card

Parents of disabled children are entitled to this new card which offers free entry into leisure or Arts facilities/venues across the borough when accompanying the person being cared for and a 25% discount when a carer is using a facility without the person they are caring for. To apply for a card please contact the Dolphin Centre on 01325 388410.

Course for Carers

This course consists of five modules and will take place on Wednesdays 1.30 - 3pm on a fortnightly basis through January, February and March 2007. For further information and to book your place please contact the Carers Support Service on 01325 357533.

2. Health and Wellbeing.

3. Stress management and relaxation.

4. Organisations who can help.

5. Welfare Rights - presentation by Matthew Sigsworth.

This is a free course and is offered to all carers. The modules can be accessed individually.

Carers Rights Day

Carers Rights Day this year will be part of a Christmas Carols and Coffee Drop-in session at the Kings Head Hotel on Priestgate, between 1.00pm and 4.00pm on Friday 8th December organised by DAD's Carers Support Service.

If you would like information about your Rights as a carer or would like to join in a seasonal sing along, come and take part in a fun afternoon.

Groundworks

Groundworks and Friends of North Park are working on a plan to improve North Park . Fully accessible play equipment has been highlighted as an absolute must and your views as a parent are very important.
